Al in 2003 begon het conflict tussen het Britse bedrijf <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.monterrico.co.uk\">Monterrico Metals<\/a><\/strong> en de lokale bevolking, die zich in 2007 in een referendum overduidelijk t\u00e9gen mijnbouw in de streek uitsprak. Ondertussen is de Chinese groep <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zjky.cn\/Default.aspx?alias=www.zjky.cn\/english\"><strong>Zijin<\/strong><\/a> de voornaamste aandeelhouder.
