Frankrijk schreef de aanval toe aan het Ivoriaans leger en president Gbagbo, waarna het Frans leger als represaille tot bombardementen overging en de Ivoriaanse luchtmacht uitschakelde.<br \/>\nNu blijkt dat het niet om een aanval van de Ivoriaanse luchtmacht ging maar om vliegtuigen bemand door Russische huurlingen\u00a0die gecharterd werden door Robert Montoya, een man verbonden aan de &#8220;anti-terrorisme&#8221; cel van president Chirac.\u00a0<br \/>\nHet gebeuren kadert blijkbaar in het exporteren van Franse klanbelangen (de RPR van toenmalig president Chirac vesus de Parti Socialiste) naar Afrika.
