Onze VS correspondent Derek Monroe, doet het verhaal van het hoofdstuk dat volgens hem onderbelicht blijft in het boek: haar betrokkenheid bij juridische machinaties rond de gasramp van Bhopal in Indi\u00eb.<br \/>\nEen lek van methylisocyanaat bij de fabriek van Union Carbide in Bhopal in december 1984 doodde duizenden mensen. De Bhopal-ramp is ook vandaag nog altijd officieel de meest dodelijke industri\u00eble ramp. In 1989 betaalde Union Carbide de Indische overheid 470 miljoen $. Daarna bleek dat dit voor het bedrijf niet het einde van het verhaal was en er werd een manier gezocht om verdere financi\u00eble claims door slachtoffers te blokkeren.
